Today at DAC, PDF Solutions Demonstrates Its Process-Aware DFM Environment Interoperating With Synopsys Physical Compiler

Visit the Silicon Integration Initiative Booth 3216 to See PDF pDfx(TM) Software Interoperate with Synopsys Physical Complier

SAN DIEGO—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 9, 2004— PDF Solutions(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:PDFS) is demonstrating interoperability between its pDfx(TM) process-aware DFM environment and Physical Complier as part of PDF's efforts here in the Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) exhibit here. The demonstration highlights interoperable electronics design tools resulting from the efforts of the OpenAccess Coalition. The pDfx environment uses the OpenAccess Data Base as its primary repository for the yield models used in optimizing designs for manufacturability.

"When PDF Solutions' launched its pDfx process-aware environment in Q3 2003, we announced our intent to integrate it with all the major synthesis design flows," said Michael Buehler-Garcia, vice president of DFM Solutions at PDF Solutions. "Here at DAC, we're delivering on this by showcasing pDfx integration with the Synopsys and Cadence flows, and by showing the first pDfx Compliant(TM) Flow, which is from Magma Design Automation. In a pDfx Compliant flow, PDF's process-aware DFM environment is embedded in a chip design flow."

About the pDfx Process Aware Design Environment

The pDfx environment packages PDF Solutions' extensive knowledge of leading-edge IC manufacturability and delivers it directly to IC designers. Using pDfx, designers can optimize products for manufacturability before tapeout, which is designed to result in product cost savings and faster ramps to production-level yields. This reduces the need to re-spin mask sets for manufacturability issues, which is essential to designers as IC designs move to 130 nanometer and smaller technologies. pDfx is designed to integrate with intellectual property from the target process and with products from the top EDA vendors.

Initial design efforts using the pDfx environment have resulted in customers achieving yield improvements ranging from five- to ten-percent increases in net good die. This level of yield improvement gives customers of pDfx a major competitive advantage.
